STV Writer's Guidelines

Guidelines for Writers and Photographers:

Purpose: Sharing the Victory is a ministry tool of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It seeks to inform, inspire and involve coaches, athletes and all whom they influence, that they may make an impact for Jesus Christ.

Audience: Readership ranges from junior high through college-aged student-athletes to coaches to business professionals who support the ministry. All have the common threads of faith and sports.

Format: A balance of first and third person and Q&A articles and profiles, as well as topical stories that can effectively minister to the athlete or coach. We feature both widely recognized athletes and coaches, as well as those not in the spotlight. Each article must be tied to the FCA ministry.

Approach: Query letters are best. STV is a four-color publication, printed nine times a year on 8" x 10-3/4" glossy stock. Article length up to 1,200 words. Manuscripts may be either typed or e-mailed. Prefer to buy first rights only.

Photography: Articles should be accompanied by at least three quality photos. Prefer professional grade.

Payment: Upon publication. Fees vary according to page length.

Misc.: Circulation 80,000. Byline and photo credits given. Submit seasonal material four months in advance. We feature both major and minor sports. Also, it is important to incorporate a balance of gender and race.

Tips: Send $2 for a sample copy, plus a 9" x 12" self-addressed envelope with three first-class stamps.
