Coaches and Friends of FCA,
There are times when we experience God in such a powerful way that when we try to describe it to others, our words are inadequate. That is my CHALLENGE today. We have just finished the first two sessions of FCA Team Football Camp at USC-Upstate in Spartanburg. During the past week, over 900 athletes and coaches have participated in 7 on 7 competitions and Linemen's Camp. Teams have gone head-to-head during the day and then been challenged in nightly assemblies by incredible speakers. Our Prayer Coordinator, Andy Heen, has people from all over the country on their knees asking God to work in the hearts of those attending. I want you to know that those prayers are being answered. Over 300 athletes AND coaches made commitments of faith this week! We give God the Glory for all that has taken place.
Here are a couple of comments I heard this week:
Athlete - "I have never been to a football camp where everyone got along.
It is not just about football is it?"
Coach - "All these years, I have been missing my most important role as a
coach, to make sure my players understand what it means to have a
relationship with Jesus Christ."
I wish you could have experienced the amazing power of God that we
witnessed. Players that had responded to the invitation, going back into
the crowd to get their teammates and bring them forward. Coaches in tears,
as they hugged their players welcoming them into the "family of God."
Hearing one veteran coach say as he handed his team's commitment cards to a
staff member, "Here are my team's cards and MINE is on top!" What a mighty God we serve!
Please continue to pray. As these players and coaches go back into their
communities, they will need a strong church and support as they grow in
their faith. Our FCA Team will host two more sessions beginning Monday.
We expect another 1000 athletes and coaches to have the same kind of
experience. Thank you all for growing God's Kingdom through FCA as
coaches, board members, donors, volunteers, etc. God is using each of us
to make a difference in ways that we cannot even imagine.
