  • Lakelands FCA had 3 Partnership Camps this summer-Volleyball at Lander University, Football 7-on-7 at BHP High School, and Softball at Anderson Civic Center.
  • At camps this summer, 10 different Lakelands schools attended 27 different camps; 265 athletes and 25 coaches received scholarships. Including partnership camps, 797 athletes and 130 coaches were in attendance. At this point, 47 first-time decisions and 134 recommitments were made; however, we have not received the final numbers from the camps.
  • Lakelands FCA prayer teams continually lift up the leaders and students at each camp, praying that the Lord will work in their lives and hearts.
  • 55 Bibles were given to Presbyterian college Football Team for weekly Bible study. 30 Bibles were given to Abbeville High School Athletic Department, which were given to each graduating senior athlete at the Athletic Banquet in May.
  • Abbeville High School football team and cheerleading squad have begun weekly Bible studies, both groups having received FCA Bibles.

The Greenwood Golf Tournament on April 22, 2008, was held for the purpose of raising money to fund scholarships for summer camps. This year, we received a record number of requests — 265 athletes and 25 coaches to attend 27 camps!

The total amount requested was $22,257.33.

The Golf Tournament revenue is about $9,000 short of the number of scholarships requested. Please prayerfully consider making a donation (or increasing your donation) to give an athlete a life-changing experience.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Coach Tony Temple and Byron Best of Greenwood High School for receiving the Drake Anderson Scholarship to attend summer camp. Drake Anderson, a Greenwood High School senior and football player, was tragically killed in a car wreck. Drake had accepted Christ through the ministry of FCA a few months before his death. The main criteria for determining the recipient of this annual award is outstanding Christian character.

Sentell Brownlee (center) of Ware Shoals High School, for receiving the Lewis Bagwell FCA Memorial Scholarship to Clemson in the amount of $2,000.
