"I don't think the Lord is that concerned over whether the ball goes through the uprights or not. God is in control. He'll provide whether I'm on the field or not. People make what I do so much more than it is. Playing football is my job. It's a way to make a living, the same as others. But I still want to be the best I can be. The Lord has given me the ability to kick a football. I want to take that gift and perfect it and glorify Him with it." "In college, my faith had become a habit. I had to face decisions on my own without my parents. Through Reagan Lambert (Director-Greater Austin FCA), I began to understand that faith was more than going to church. It's a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year commitment. It taught me to be obedient." |

"My freshman year in college (University of Texas) our team won the 1991 NCAA Swimming Championship in our own pool in Austin. It was awesome! Many athletes pride themselves on training hard, but unfortunately when the season is over, especially if they win, some pride themselves on partying hard as well. Afraid of being rejected and lacking in character, I chose to party also. After a lengthy time of too much studying, partying and late hours, my body broke down. I was in bed, ill for almost two weeks. It was a "bottom of the barrel" experience." "God had allowed me to get to a point in my life where He had my attention. It was that season of my life where God gave me the strength and courage to respond to His truth. Jesus Christ is exactly who He says He is and He is worthy of my full trust in every area of my life. I can trust Him with swimming, family, my whole life, every hour of the week, not just on Sundays. FCA at the University of Texas was one of the tools God used in my life to shape, sharpen and support my journey." |
